MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao’s Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez said he has accepted the terms offered for a third fight against the Filipino boxing superstar.
He, however, said the catchweight limit for the fight will be 144 pounds, not 145 as previously claimed by Pacquiao’s adviser, Michael Koncz, according to the website, Boxingscene.com.
“I’m going to take the offer. It’s the fight I’ve been waiting for and I want to fight him,” Marquez said.
A separate report by LAtimes.com said Marquez was offered a guaranteed purse of $5 million in the fight that is considered by many as the most competitive bout for Pacquiao.
If Pacquiao signs the deal, the fight will take place on November 12 in Las Vegas.
The offer was made by Pacquiao’s handler, Bob Arum’s Top Rank promotions.
Pacquiao currently fights at the 147-pound division and is the reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion.
Marquez, on the other hand, fights at 135 pounds and is the WBO and WBC lightweight title holder.
